Program Description

Through the Advanced Distribution System (ADS) project, Hydro One is establishing the foundation for its grid modernization. The ADS project will establish a pilot Smart Zone which will integrate a new Advanced Distribution Management System, a new IEC61850 standard for substations and distribution automation, and a new WiMax communications layer for controls and protections. Integration is the key challenge to Hydro One’s Smart Grid.
